The whole path, start to finish

Most tools in the "AI dance" category want a picture. You give them a photo or a reference clip of a person moving, and they produce a video of that person moving differently. mvnt Studio is built the other way round: the music is the input. There is no image to supply and no footage to find, because the timing, the accents, and the shape of the performance all come out of the audio file you already have.

What the tool accepts, and what happens to your file

Worth knowing before you start, because it explains a couple of things you would otherwise notice and wonder about:

  • MP3 and WAV

    Those are the two upload formats accepted. The file picker asks for .wav and .mp3 specifically, and a drag-and-drop follows the same rule.

  • MP3 is converted first

    An uploaded MP3 is decoded in your browser and re-encoded to WAV before anything else happens, because the processing side works from WAV. You do not run this step; it is why an MP3 upload takes a moment longer than a WAV of the same length.

  • Or skip the file entirely

    A YouTube, Suno, or SoundCloud track link is also a valid music source, which saves a download-then-upload round trip when the song is already online.

  • It runs in the browser

    No install, no local render farm. The decode happens client side and the rest happens in Studio, in the tab.

What is shown about your track publicly

If a scene made from your upload ends up on a public page, the filename is not what appears. Privately uploaded audio is masked behind a generic user-music-file label, so an internal working title never leaks out of your project. Track titles are only shown for scenes whose source is a link — YouTube, Suno, or SoundCloud — where the title is public information already. If you specifically want the song credited, link it rather than uploading it.

Picking an MP3 that produces usable choreography

Not every file gives the same result, and the reasons are mostly musical rather than technical. Four things make a practical difference:

  • Pick the section first

    A four-minute MP3 is far more song than a short clip needs. Knowing which thirty seconds you actually want danced saves you from choreographing three and a half minutes you will cut anyway.

  • A clear pulse beats a loud one

    The beat is what the choreography is hung on. A mix where the kick and snare are legible reads better than a heavily limited master where every transient has been squashed into the same level.

  • Watch out for a free intro

    Ambient pads, a rubato piano opening, or a spoken intro give the analysis nothing to lock to. If your file starts that way, trim into the groove.

  • Structure is what stops it looping

    Movement follows the shape of the track. A song where the chorus is audibly bigger than the verse produces choreography with an arc; a single unchanging loop produces a single unchanging dance.

The short version: the analysis can only follow what is audible. If you had to count the track out loud yourself and would struggle, expect the generated dance to struggle in the same places. Trimming to the strongest, clearest passage of the song is the single highest-leverage thing you can do before generating.

Why audio-driven output is different

This is a category distinction, not a scoreboard. Image and video-driven tools solve a problem that starts with a visual. This solves one that starts with a song.

Because the result is a 3D scene rather than a flat render, the choreography leaves as data. BVH and FBX are available to download today, with GLB coming soon:

  • BVH

    A skeleton hierarchy and joint rotations, no mesh. This is the one to take when you intend to retarget the dance onto a character rig you already own.

  • FBX

    The interchange format most DCC applications and game engines read for animated characters. Reach for this when the destination is an existing 3D pipeline.

  • GLB — coming soon

    GLB is not available to download yet. When it arrives it will pack geometry and animation into one binary glTF file — the easiest thing to hand to a web viewer or a colleague who just wants to look at it.

Which one you want depends entirely on the destination. If you only need something to post, you do not need any of them — record the scene and cut the clip against your original MP3, or pass that recording to an AI video tool such as Kling, Higgsfield, or Seedance 2.5 as the motion reference for a final visual pass. If the dance is going to be reused on a character you already have, take BVH and retarget it. If it is heading into an established 3D or game pipeline, FBX is usually the path of least resistance. GLB is not available to download yet; when it ships it will sit in between — self-contained, easy to preview, good for handing to someone who just needs to see it. Downloading requires a signed-in account.
