Halloween is the one night a year when everyone gets to become someone else. Costumes, masks, monsters, and a little bit of chaos. It is also the perfect excuse to dance.
After the creativity our community brought to the first Danceathon, we are back with a seasonal edition: the MVNT Halloween Danceathon!
This time the prompt is all about mood:
Make the night move.
Create a short Halloween dance piece with MVNT. Raise the dead for a zombie crew, stage a haunted-house party, dress your character for a midnight costume reveal, or turn your favorite spooky track into a music-video moment. Scary, silly, or beautifully eerie: it is your call.
What is different this time
The first Danceathon asked a big, open question about generative dance. The Halloween edition is lighter and more playful. It is built for quick experiments, first-time creators, and anyone who wants to share something fun with the community before October ends.
To set the scene, the MVNT dance studio now has a Halloween mode. Turn it on from the switch above the Create button to bring in moody lighting and haunted backdrops for your dancers. Using it is optional, but it is the fastest way to give your scene a Halloween atmosphere.
Every eligible participant will receive 300 free MVNT credits, worth 10 minutes of creation.
How to enter
- Register for the challenge using the official Halloween Danceathon entry form.
- Join the MVNT Discord.
- Receive your participation credits after registration and eligibility verification.
- Open the dance studio, switch on Halloween mode if you like, and create your Halloween dance piece with MVNT.
- Share your final video in #showcase on Discord before the deadline, and include your MVNT scene link.
Need ideas?
Start with a character, a costume, or a song. Your entry could be:
- A zombie, skeleton, or monster crew dancing in sync
- A haunted-house party scene with multiple dancers
- A costume reveal or transformation moment
- A human × AI duet with a spooky twist
- A Halloween music-video concept
- Something cute, funny, or completely unexpected
Spooky does not have to mean scary. Make it yours.
Prizes
We will award a total of $350 in prizes across four categories:
- Spookiest Scene — $100
- Best Dance — $100
- Human × AI — $100
- Community Favorite — $50
How judging works
The MVNT team will judge Spookiest Scene, Best Dance, and Human × AI. Entries will be reviewed for Halloween atmosphere, choreography, creativity, and meaningful use of MVNT.
Community Favorite will be decided by reactions in the Discord #showcase channel. Each community member may cast one reaction per submission.
Timeline
- Challenge opens: 19 October
- Submissions close: 31 October, 11:59 PM PST
- Judging period: 1–7 November
- Winners announced: 9 November
Submission rules
To qualify, your entry must:
- Be your original work
- Meaningfully use MVNT in the choreography or creation process
- Include the MVNT scene link with the submission
- Fit the theme of Halloween
- Be submitted in Discord #showcase before the deadline
- Be between 20 and 150 seconds long
- Avoid stolen or copyright-infringing material
- Keep it spooky, not harmful: no gore, NSFW, hateful, discriminatory, dangerous, or otherwise inappropriate content
- A participant may win in a maximum of two categories.
Only one submission is allowed per participant. MVNT may disqualify entries that do not meet the eligibility requirements.

Before you jump in
Who can enter?
The campaign is open to all new and existing MVNT users globally, including creators who joined the first Danceathon.
Do I have to use Halloween mode?
No. Halloween mode is there to help you set the mood quickly. Any entry that fits the Halloween theme and meaningfully uses MVNT is welcome.
Do I need dance or animation experience?
No. Beginners, dancers, 3D artists, filmmakers, and animators are all welcome, subject to the final eligibility rules.
How do I receive the free credits?
Register through the official challenge form. Eligible participants will receive 300 free credits in their MVNT account within 6 hours of registering.
Where do I submit my entry?
Post your video in the MVNT Discord #showcase channel and include your MVNT scene link.
Can I submit more than one entry?
No. Each participant receives one submission slot.
Can I use music, footage, characters, or other assets that I did not create?
You may only use material you own or have permission to use. Entries containing unauthorized copyrighted material may be disqualified.
When will winners be announced?
Winners are scheduled to be announced on 9 November in the MVNT Discord #announcement channel.
